The ZipShot is one great single purpose tripod. It serves the purpose of a quick, portable, light weight tripod. I carry this in my backpack or when I want to use something very light weight. My primary use for this tripod is for the times I want to be included in a photo or use as a light stand. The ball head works well and holds the Canon EOS 20D with a Canon 24-105mm f4L. I've also used it to hold an auxiliary flash for location shoots and it works well for that purpose.
However, this should NOT be your only tripod. It is not all that stable for serious photography and it is limited in use. It doesn't elevate or have a pan head and the legs are not adjustable. For that I use a Sunpak tripodSunpak Ultra Tripod 3 Way Fluid Effect Head with a remote shutter release (I'm on a budget). The ZipShot as a monopod is not very stable and wobbles a bit. For fun, I mounted my Canon 70-200mm f2.8L along with the camera and it is not stable either as a mono or tripod (weight limit is 3 pounds). The bottom portions of the legs are not bound together and as a monopod it wobbles. I use the Manfrotto MonopodBogen-Manfrotto 680 Compact Monopod and I'm able to add more weight while I'm shooting to get a lot more stability when doing action photography (also with the Manfrotto the optional tripod legs comes in handy).
Like many tools, the ZipShot is a very good addition to the photographer's tool kit and it should not be the only tripod you own.

BOTTOM LINE: It is a good tripod to have for the occasions you do not want (or can't) carry a large tripod or monopod. Use a regular tripod or monopod to suit the photo shoot you are planning to do and carry the ZipShot with you all the time. It does have limitations and you should consider how you will be using this before buying. With that said, I highly recommend it!
